I use natural, mythological and iconic imagery to create colorful and dramatic images in a variety of mediums.
I have deeply been affected this past year by the tragedy of the Gulf Oil Spill on both the people and the wildlife who inhabit its shores and waters.
I am the process of creating a new series of oil paintings called "Canary in a Coal Mine; Messages from the Natural World". The animals portrayed in the series are endangered species, the flower is my symbolic emotional response to the animal portrayed.
For each of the pieces in this series I am using a Mother Color. The mother color is a color that has some kind of visceral significance to the message of the work and is mixed with each of the colors in the painting to create a harmony in the completed imagery.
