"From a love one: would you rather get a letter, open it, hold it in your hand and read it or get an e-mail? In the end was Marshall McLuhan right? "The Medium is the Message".  "

Art Survival

I recently closed a graphic design business to finally return to my main profession- Art. Much has changed and I am searching the internet to see how others are surviving and where they are finding the sources for exhibiting as well as selling. I would love input from all as to what you have found in this world.

http://www.ilovedesign.com/uk/gallery/kgart/sound-of-grass. Very honored as there are thousands of us out there and selection is so random that you wonder how does anyone see an individual piece of art. Tiny glimpses sometimes have the most impact.

Hi Kay. Joe McKenna here. I DO like your work! I've sen some of Calder's work at the National Gallery in Washington, DC, where I lived until last November. Your work doesn'r immed. make me think of his, but I can see the association now that it's been pointed out.
I see you've been with some design firms in Virginia. Anywhere near DC?
Me, I took an early retirement from a job with the Montgomery County (MD) government last November; right when I hit 50, and since Dec 1 I've been in a residency in a remote town in SW Iowa. Corning; Johnny Carson's b'place.
Well, Maybe I should w/hold more about myself until I become the featured artist.Take care, nice meeting you. Joe

Thanks, for going to the applycolor link! I agree that we need more "tongue in cheek" fun. We can't take ourselves too seriously! We can get bogged down with so much competition and seriousness. I thought a place for uninhibited venting would be refreshing!

Thanks for the kind words. I need to get more time to be involved with this site if I could only break away from trying to make a living selling art!!

That's wonderful to hear, Katherine. My deepest general reason for making these pictures is to inspire people into wanting to protect natural places in their communities. I love how these images bring you to you to the places in the NH woods that you loved.

I have to say, that watching a slide show of your work whilst writing this comment is rather good. Allows me to see just how talented and creative you are. It is however distracting me from what I should be saying, which is a thanks for the compliment on my work and the invitation to be a 'friend'.
I'll keep visiting your pages, much to see, don't hesitate to let me know of new postings.

I really like your style. I don't know how I would describe your work to someone else. Very graphic and clean.
