Curator’s Comments:

Solitude was featured randomly on the site this morning, and I was enamored by the intimacy of the gesture and translucency of the onyx. The stone appears to have a warm, almost fleshy pink tint, and the high polish contributes to the semblance of skin. . Many of your other stone carvings share an embryonic, organically flowing form.  The undulation of a figure is further evident in most pieces.  This sculpture also appears to bow into itself, creating a self-contained space.  I appreciate the curvature of the base of the form.  It doesn’t appear to have a completely flat bottom, which would dictate the extended plane in which it meets its base or ground.  In this way, it presents as an independent and autonomous entity.   I realize it was created several years ago, and so I hope we see more of your work in the New Year.
