I went back to art some time after I attended the Paul Gauguin exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago that went on quite awhile ago.

I loved Picassos nude painting of Fernande Oliver done in terra cotta colors, and also the Modigliani painting of a red haired girl holding a cat.

I find it was the flesh/ fleshiness that eluded me within some of the other galleries. A certain lack of humaness?

I remember getting a glimpse of Spirit of the Dead Watching through that huge crowd. I've been able to see it again at the Art Institute (fantastic show. Its overwhelming.

I made this painting in 2007, two years out of undergraduate school.

I used both tigers eye genuine and tigers eye burnt together.

I wanted it to be powerful.

Is it strong?
